We regularly stay at Swissôtel Büyük Efes İzmir and once again had a wonderful experience. The Executive Lounge team are exceptional. Polite, warm and attentive, always checking on us and topping up drinks even though it is self service. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Thank you to Melike, Tarik, Zeynep and Emre for making our stay so welcoming. Guest Relations Ilay was lovely and made us feel truly valued as returning guests. Concierge Bahri and his team were also very helpful. The piano music in the lounge creates a nice atmosphere, though slightly lowering the volume at times would make it even more relaxing. Scappi Restaurant on the top floor is also highly recommended. Magnificent views, great live music, excellent pizza and the octopus starter is a must try. We look forward to returning again.

This hotel is ideally located near the harbor, with a beautiful and easy walk along the port—perfect for exploring the waterfront and nearby restaurants. What truly made our stay memorable, though, was the exceptional service at Café Swiss. Each morning we were warmly welcomed by the lovely Sude, and the traditional Turkish breakfast buffet was a true feast—a colorful cornucopia of fresh breads, cheeses, olives, fruits, and local specialties that showcased the best of Turkey. On our final morning, I wasn’t feeling well but knew I needed something nourishing. I asked one of the chefs if it might be possible to have a simple bowl of cooked oatmeal. Not only was my request kindly received, but I was offered a choice of milks—almond, oat, or coconut—which felt incredibly thoughtful. The oatmeal was promptly delivered to my table by the caring Alara, and the manager, Erhan, personally checked in to make sure everything was perfect and even brought me additional tea. That level of kindness and attentiveness is rare, and it made for a truly comforting and wonderful start to the day. I would absolutely recommend this hotel—not just for the location, but for the genuine hospitality that made us feel so well cared for while traveling.

The experience is overall great. Room are a bit on the old side but overall well maintained and rather spacious. minibar is ridiculous expensive, and they could throw in a couple of complementary Nescafé pods since there is the machine. They should definitely upgrade the hairdryer and water pressure of the shower could be better. The staff is overall great breakfast service was great thanks especially to Nehir.

Nice hotel with extremely nice and friendly staff. Worth staying here. Few very minor observations: Missing toothbrushes in the bathroom, which placed there 2 days later. Tea spoons have to be requested at the breakfast. These minor things being highlighted shows that i have nothing major to complain about. My stay in the hotel is 7 nights and frankly i am loving it. Good selection/spread at breakfast and Super efficient friendly staff at hand to ensure that i am fully stuffed with food. I travel a lot and i can safely say that this hotel is in par/exceeds other 5* hotels that i stay at. Top stars to swissotel. Love Turkiya.

I booked this hotel due to high ratings and attractive photos, expecting top quality and no hidden costs. Reality was disappointing. At check-in I was shocked by the unexpected deposit demand- no clear mention it was hidden between a whole paragraph, hard to find, where the price was shown as final with all fees included. The receptionist insisted the rate was “too low for two people” and pushed breakfast hard despite my clear refusal. We compromised: I paid only half the requested deposit. I repeatedly asked if a contactless phone payment (Apple Pay) would allow instant refund at checkout. Each time: “No problem, come 15 min early, we check minibar and return it immediately.” It was a lie. At 3 a.m. check-out (early flight) they said refunds only start at 9 a.m., no physical card= no instant return, transfer takes 3 business days. Mr. Ismail Balaban (shift manager?) and the receptionist showed zero empathy or willingness to help. To this day the deposit hasn’t been returned and no one has contacted me. Worst part: the hotel created the problem but takes no responsibility to fix it. Only I have to chase, email and fight to recover my money. Room: very comfortable beds (only real positive), broken bathroom scale, rusty bathtub plug, constant beeping from bathroom 24/7, average indoor pool. Housekeeping staff were genuinely kind and helpful. For a 5-star hotel this level of unprofessionalism, dishonesty and lack of accountability is unacceptable. Price-quality mismatch is huge. Never again. Avoid if you value your time, nerves and money.
