Generally speaking it's the bad experiences that really stick with me and it's not all that often that I have an experience so far to the opposite end of the spectrum that I know I won't forget it. The rooms are absolutely fantastic and the location could not be any better. It's right in the middle of everywhere you could possibly want to go but it's not too busy to just go for a walk around like in other areas. The absolute best part and what sets Upper House Shanghai apart from almost every other stay in have had is the service. The staff are amazing and go way above and beyond to make sure that you have an amazing stay. I really can't fault anything about our stay there and we will most definitely be back there at some point in the future. Thank you for an amazing stay and the great memories we have.

As a solo NYC-based traveler in my late 20s who prioritizes health and wellness, I was looking for a truly restorative stay --and this hotel delivered. I booked via Chase Sapphire Reserve’s The Edit, and stayed for two nights over Christmas week. I’m glad I chose this property over the other options available. I appreciated the spa amenities + the design elements throughout the hotel - everything felt luxurious, modern, and intentional. Amenities: This was my main reason for booking as I wanted to reset after 20+ hours of traveling. There is a main pool, heated jacuzzi pools, dry sauna, and steam room. The gym was also well-equipped with quality machines and free weights. Room: Thoughtful design details really stood out: - Walk-in closet - Hi-fidelity bluetooth speaker sound system - Bedside rope to turn off all lights - Automatic curtains - Double sink bathroom - Rainfall shower Food & Dining: Via Chase's The Edit offering - breakfast for two was included, with a great selection of fresh juices and set menu options. I also used the $100 dining credit toward a 6-course meal the restaurant was offering for Christmas, which was a highlight—excellent quality and presentation. Location: Very convenient, about a 5-minute walk to both Line 2 and Line 13 metro stations, making it easy to get around. Would recommend checking out the LV exhibit that's right next door (you have to make a res via wechat - the front desk can probably help you with this). Overall, this stay felt like a true reset. Highly recommend for travelers looking for comfort, wellness, and a premium experience.

Just wow. Everything about this place whispered thoughtful design and everywhere you look, there's an understated elegance and calm. Mi hijo was thrilled when we first walked in out room, mostly because he didn't see any corners, is you know what I mean. But also he loved the yin/yanging couch, a place where we spent a lot of quality time. The bed and linens were so comfy, too. The food was amazing. Every day, we had the most delicious breakfast. Mi hijo would order something exotic and I'd have eggs or something more reasonable. We did love the Dan Dan Noodles, though! The location was absolutely perfect. Access to everywhere and everything,. Walkable and lovely and had a ginat Louis Vuitton boat that excited mi hijo to no end. I can''t imagine a better hotel in this city. We were so happy to not stay at The Bund or Pudong. We were right where we wanted to be surrounded by chic shops, great restaurants, and a thriving nightlife.

I had a wonderful experience staying at The Middle House in Shanghai. From the moment I arrived, everything felt elegant and welcoming. The design of the hotel is stunning—modern, yet warm and calming. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, from the lighting to the luxurious bedding. The staff were consistently professional, kind, and attentive, always ready to help with anything I needed.

Amazing team overshadowed by the doormans. Entrance doorman zero stars. Doorman team failed to greet and assist when we arrived, instead he idly stared at our car watching us lift luggages off the car and dragging the entrance door open… when we left doorman (different one) was entirely missing from the door… instead talking to someone else making us fumbling with both door & luggages. Overall doorman team failed to help open the door when needed. Hotel GM, Why have doorman team when they are never at the door to help guests. Facilities beyond five stars. Location beyond five stars (yes it’s the LV boat). Front desk beyond five stars. House keeping beyond five stars. Room service five stars. Food four stars.
